| Nationally Accredited Program
The Accrediting Council on Education in Journalism and Mass Communications accredits the UW-Oshkosh journalism department. One of only three accredited journalism programs in Wisconsin, the UWO department has been accredited since 1978. To maintain its status as an accredited program the department is subject to review by the accreditation council every six years. The department must maintain twelve rigorous standards set by the council. This ensures that students in the program enjoy a high level of individual attention in a professional setting. Graduating from an accredited program gives students in the UWO journalism program an immediate advantage in the job hunt.
