COMMITTEESCurriculum/Equipment Committee Suggested Mission: Keep department faculty informed about the latest developments in their professional areas - news, advertising, public relations and visual communication - and try to relate to faculty the nature of the changes that occur. The committee will also provide advice when the department is thinking about curriculum changes or equipment purchases. Professional Development Committee Suggested Mission: Help provide internship and job opportunities for students and graduate, and perhaps take on the role of a placement service, with timely notification to the department of job openings. It will also establish mentoring opportunities, and compile a list of alumni speakers willing to talk with classes and student organizations about their professional careers. Alumni Relations/Fundraising Suggested Mission: Organize alumni events and spearhead the raising of funds and the identification of fund-raising opportunities. It will also assist in communication with alumni, including keeping track of alumni and their accomplishments for inclusion in the department newsletter. Recruitment Committee Suggested Mission: Work to encourage the application of students to the university who will contribute to greater diversity and academic excellence among the department's student body. Its members will help the department interact effectively with various constituencies of the profession by, among other things, becoming active members of professional organizations in their respective fields. It will also develop ideas that will help the department promote itself and its program. |
