After four years of planning, the interactive Web management (IWM) degree was approved by the UW System Board of Regents in May 2012. the degree will officially start in Fall 2012, but most of the courses have already been offered for several semesters, so some students will be able to graduate with this degree already in the 2012-13 academic year.

The IWM degree program is offered jointly by four different departments across two colleges at UW Oshkosh: Information Systems and Marketing in the College of Business and Computer Science and Journalism in the College of Letters and Science.

The degree program is based on offerings from four successful existing programs, all of which are accredited. The Marketing and Information Systems majors are accredited through The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) accreditation of the College of Business. The Journalism major is accredited by the Accrediting Council for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication, and the Computer Science Emphasis of the Computer Science major is accredited by the Computing Accreditation Commission of ABET,

Interactive Web Management is offered as a BS, BA, and BBA degree with largely the same core content. It is offered and managed jointly by the four departments. The degree prepares students for work at the intersection of technology, marketing, public relations, and media.  The Graduates of the program will be able to work in areas such as developing and managing web site presences, social media strategy, social media production, search engine optimization, and online brand presence.
