Podcasting at UW Oshkosh

iTunesU

iTunesU is a free service provided to the university by Apple Inc. It provides an easy to use interface for faculty and staff to share resources with students and the community. iTunes allows faculty that wish to lock thier content so that it may be viewed by only thier students to do so. iTunes allows faculty that wish to share thier content with the world to do so as well. Viewers may subscribe to course materials so that future content is automatically downloaded to thier computer.

iTunesU at UW Oshkosh is not yet available in the main iTunesU directory. Public content may be accessed by following this link.

Podcast Capture

Podcast Capture allows users of Mac OSX 10.5 or higher to automatically record and submit video, screen captures or audio to a server, which processes, names and uploads the finished files to iTunes. This software may be used for lecture capture or in office recording. It is the most popular capture method at UW Oshkosh and is available for automated lecture capture in 70% of our general access classrooms.

Future upgrades to podcast capture will allow faculty to initiate recordings on a backend via a web interface on thier windows workstation. Faculty will also be able to opt for alternative delivery methods, including via a blog or RSS feed.
