3) UNIVERSITY HOUSING: Freshman and sophomore students (having earned 48 or more credits as of the first day of classes) who are not military veterans, married, or living with parents, guardian, or host family shall be required to live in a University-operated residence hall when such accommodations are available.
The housing contract (along with a $150 housing deposit or the waiver form) needs to be returned to the University as soon as possible. If you use the waiver form, both the white and the yellow copies need to be returned. Please note that you will be required to pay the $150 housing deposit even if you decide not to enroll at UW Oshkosh.
If you will be living in the residence halls, please complete and return the enclosed food and housing contract with the enclosed pre-payment deferment form as soon as possible to:
UW OSHKOSH OFFICE OF INTERNATIONAL EDUCATION
INTERNATIONAL STUDENT SERVICES
800 ALGOMA BLVD
OSHKOSH, WI 54901 USA
Housing during semester breaks is available in:
Evans, Stewart, Donner, Webster, and Taylor Halls ONLY.
Students assigned to residence halls that are open during University breaks may check into their rooms before international student orientation week, prior to the Sunday before classes begin. Students assigned to other halls may stay in the Gruenhagen Conference Center prior to moving into their assigned rooms on the Sunday before classes begin.
Please note that you are required to attend all New International Student Orientation sessions during the week prior to the start of classes.
Housing during the summer is available in the Gruenhagen Conference Center.
Questions regarding your on campus residence hall assignment may be directed to: eckroth@uwosh.edu.
If you arrive on campus, have not contracted for a residence hall room, and are required to live on-campus, contact the Residence Life Office, 2nd floor, South Gruenhagen, between 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM (Tel: 920-424-3212). On-campus housing may be limited at that time and you may be housed temporarily at Gruenhagen Conference Center. Note: Residence Hall contracts are one academic year long in duration.
More information about on campus housing may be accessed at: http://housing.uwosh.edu/
OFF-CAMPUS HOUSING AND TEMPORARY HOUSING: Students who are eligible to live off campus, and choose to do so, are responsible for finding their own living accommodations. Off-campus housing is difficult to find if you arrive close to the beginning of a semester so you may want to allow additional time to find a place to live. It is also usually expensive and is subject to a lease.
Gruenhagen Conference Center is available for temporary housing if you are not assigned to a residence hall that is open during University breaks and housing is not available when you arrive. An amount of approximately $25.00 per day is charged. Please allow an additional $25.00 per day for food.
A list of off campus apartments is maintained by the UW Oshkosh Student Association and can be accessed at:
http://www.osa.uwosh.edu/legalservices/?page=66
Please contact International Student Services if you have any questions regarding on or off campus housing.
• Undergraduate students under the age of 21 and who have earned less than 60 credits are required to live in a residence hall.
4) MEALS: From Saturday, August 22, 2009 through lunch on Sunday, September 6, 2009 on-campus food service is not available. Meals begin with evening dinner on Sunday, September 6, 2009.
Fast food restaurants, such as Hardees, Papa John's (pizza), Subway, Erberts & Gerberts, etc. are within walking distance from campus and are relatively inexpensive.
