International Studies offers students the opportunity to study current world affairs, the process of diplomacy, the position of the United States in the world and its interaction with other nations, the functioning of international business, various regions of the world, and in particular the developing and less developed countries of the world.
The UW Oshkosh International Studies Program has been recognized as a UW System Center of Excellence and is an interdisciplinary undergraduate major including courses from more than a dozen University Departments in three colleges within the university.
This enables the International Studies Program to utilize faculty expertise scattered throughout the university, drawing faculty specialists from a wide range of fields with expertise in global and international affairs to create a unique program encompassing all aspects of world affairs and functioning in the current interdependent global economy. The interdisciplinary nature of the International Studies Program allows the majors to match their educational goals with their career aspirations through the multiple options sponsored by the Program, including the topical emphases, areas studies emphases, disciplinary emphases, and the Model United Nations organization.
