University Style Guide
The University of Wisconsin Oshkosh style guide is a general resource for consistency in writing across all University communications.
A style guide is a tool to help UW Oshkosh communicators; it is not a manual to police them as "right" or "wrong." Instead, it is as advertised: a guide. It's a list of choices that have been made to ensure consistency. Consistent style helps solidify the University's brand platform and content strategy.
The style guide outlines specific rules and usages followed by the writers and editors of UW Oshkosh's Integrated Marketing and Communications team. UW Oshkosh defers to The Chicago Manual of Style and The Associated Press Stylebook. However, when conflicting information exists, the University style guide takes precedence.
UW Oshkosh's style guide is compiled and edited by the News and Public Information team and is designed to be relevant to modern media. The guidelines are for general use and the document is forever evolving and changing to adapt as trends do.
