We the InterFraternity Council at the University
of Wisconsin Oshkosh are individuals coming together for
a common purpose. To promote knowledge, foster leadership,
facilitate social interaction, and teach true gentlemanly
conduct, knowing more can be accomplished collectively than
individually.

 |
The InterFraternity Council (IFC) is the representative
body for campus fraternities. Whereas each fraternity
has its own individual goals, the IFC provides a general
direction for the growth and betterment of all fraternities.
The IFC meets to conduct business and to discuss any pressing
issues in the Greek community. We work to promote fraternities
at the University of Wisconsin/Oshkosh. IFC is also
the main channel of communication between the University
and the Greek community.
Organize a philanthropy event for each academic semester. Preferably,
one of the events should be focused on a campus related cause
while the other should focus on an off-campus or national
cause.
Review of IFC by-laws and relationship statement at least
once a year.
Have an active involvement in Greek Week, Greek Forum
and other related activities.
Updating of IFC website at least once a month with current
information.
Make use of Greek office at the Involvement Center.
Continue maintaining a good relationship between fraternities
and the University.
Organize the presentation of a campus or Greek related
speaker every semester.
IFC will organize a formal recruitment period every fall
semester.

A Self-Assessment Tool
Hazing can be the physical or mental mistreatment
of anyone, including a new member or an initiate exemplified
by these actions:
• Transporting an individual against his will.
• Branding anyone or threatening a person with branding.
• Preventing Sleep or class attendance.
• Forcing anyone to drink or eat against their will.
• Requiring acts of servitude.
• Staging any form of “line up.”
• Paddling or Striking in any manner.
• Causing anyone to break the law.
• Making anyone engage in public stunts of buffoonery.
• Dressing anyone against their will in uncomfortable or
embarrassing dress.
• Ordering forced physical stunts or calisthenics.
• Blindfolding for any purpose other than associated with
the Fraternity’s ritual.
• Conducting a “hell or I” week.
• Confining someone against their will.
• Any other actions that are not consistent with the University's
Code of Conduct and the Policy on Responsibility and Accountability.
Fact #1: Hazing hinders scholastic achievement, lessens self-esteem
and causes emotional
strain.
Fact #2: Hazing increases the likelihood of bodily injury
or death.
Fact #3: Hazing can put you in jail. It’s against the
law in most states.
Fact #4: Hazing threatens your badge, your diploma and your
chapter’s
charter.
Fact #5: Hazing increases the chance you (personally) and
your chapter could be sued for
negligence.
Fact #6: Hazing could eliminate insurance coverage. No liability
insurance policy will
cover an intentional act.
