Requirements (Degree/Experience):

  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field.
  • Experience with energy, water and waste conservation.
  • Leadership experience in environmental initiatives, resource management, and teaching/presenting information.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.

Responsibilities:

The Director of Campus Sustainability will provide leadership to the entire campus in all facets of campus sustainability. Responsibilities include the following:

  • Collaborate with various campus operational units in developing sustainability policies, priorities, and practices.
  • Coordinate with the faculty to integrate sustainability into teaching and research.
  • Collaborate with students, student groups, and student units such as residence life in promoting sustainability and supervise sustainability interns.
  • Build effective partnerships with local organizations to support sustainability efforts.
  • Supervise the university's sustainability web site and produce and annual sustainability report.
  • Apply for and manage external grants.

Preferences:

  • Master's degree or higher in a relevant field.
  • At least three years experience implementing sustainability programs.
  • Experience in a university, non-profit, or in large, multi-unit, multi-facility setting, with an understanding of environmental best practices.
  • Proven record in public/ private partnerships.
  • Teach one course per year on sustainability.
