Responsibilities:
-
Provide and coordinate library services for distance education and non-traditional students. Integrate library resources into course management software. Serve as the Distance Education UW System contact.

- Serve as Polk Library contact with the Division of Lifelong Learning and Community Engagement.

- Ensure that adequate technology and resources are available in the library for students with disabilities. Identify needs and make or recommend changes in outreach services, policies or procedures.

- Promote and publicize library serives to the campus, especially distance education and non-traditional students.

- Participate in the shared coordination of Reference services and policies along with other librarians and staff in Information and Instruction Services. Some current duties include the supervision and training of Student Reference Assistants.

- Provide reference service at the library's main Reference Desk, working a schedule including selected nights and weekends.

- Play an active role in library instruction and staff training. Serve as a back up to the Library Instruction Coordinator.

- Assist in the maintenance and development of library web pages. Consult and contribute to other web projects as requested.

- Participate in the library's Electronic Access group, which plans, coordinates, and implements activities that meet the library's information technology needs.

- Participate in collection development and the library liaison program.

- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements (Degree/Experience):
Master's degree from an ALA accredited school of library or information science. Familiarity and proficiency with library resources. Ability to develop and present instructional and orientation programs. Experience with courseware management software. Experience wtih web page construction and maintenance. Ability to work effectively with library patrons and colleagues. Effective communication skills. Commitment to high quality public service.

Preferences:
Previous experience with distance education programs and students. Academic library experience. Reference and/or instructional experience in an academic library.

Starting Date:
July 1, 2009

Salary:
Competitive

Terms of Appointment:
1 position; 12-month contract; 1.0 F.T.E
