Instructional Design - 290a.0708Department: Lifelong Learning & Community Engagement Requirements (Degree/Experience): Master's Degree. A demonstrated record of progressive experience in instructional design. Experience as a presenter and trainer and experience working with teams. College teaching experience. Responsibilities: Under general supervision of the Director of the Center for New Learning, in collaboration with the Dean of the College of Education and Human Services, this individual will: 1. provide leadership in the use of new technologies to support online learning, and support the development of online/hybrid instructional design methodology; 2. work with the College of Education and Human Services to develop a Science, Technology, Engineering Mathematics and Education Outreach Center to expand science and math education. This Center will also provide opportunities for advanced teacher professional development and licensure 3. provide expertise and knowledge on various pedagogical approaches to support the electronic-delivery of curriculum; 4. serve as project manager for online course development; 5. assist faculty in the selection and use of appropriate tools used in the creation of technology-supported curriculum; 6. assist faculty in the identification and classification of learning objects; 7. support the appropriate use of learning-object repositories; 8. provide training on various technologies and techniques to faculty to ensure the electronic-based curriculum meets their pedagogical goals; 9. serve as a resource to faculty on "best practices" used to develop and deliver electronic curriculum; and 10. perform other duties as assigned. Preferences: Experience as an instructional designer in a higher education setting. Evidence of critical and systems thinking. Experience working with adult learners and learners from diverse cultural backgrounds. Background in adult learning pedagogy.
