Requirements (Degree/Experience):
•  Relevant Bachelor's degree;
•  Significant prior experience as a Designated School Official (DSO) and/or Responsible Officer (RO) for F and/or J student programs;
•  Intermediate or Advanced proficiency in MS Office 2000 (Word, Excel, Access); Ability to learn additional software packages as required;
•  U.S. citizen or permanent resident, per federal regulations.

Responsibilities:
The central point for international students in F-1, J-1 and other non-immigrant statuses is the Office of International Education. The International Student Advisor is the University's official representative in all contacts with the Department of Homeland Secruity and the Department of State regarding the enrollment of international students. The International Student Advisor is responsible for undergraduate international admissions, academic credential evaluations, individual counseling, campus and community programming, and for providing a variety of support services to approximately 100 undergraduate and graduate international students. The position has extensive interactions with students, staff, and administrators.

•  Ability to make decisions with potential impact on international students and the University's ability to fulfill federal mandates;
•  Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact diplomatically with a diverse group of individuals and to communicate clearly and effectively with non-native speakers of English, all in a service-oriented environment;
•  Excellent verbal and written skills to prepare clear, concise and grammatically correct correspondence (via email and mail) and reports and to give clear, concise information while advising;
•  Ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks, performing successfully and with composure;
•  Attention to detail;
•  Relevant Masters degree.
•  Familiarity with web development software.

Start Date:
November 16, 2009 or within two weeks of offer

Salary:
Competitive

Terms of Appointment:
12-month renewable
