University Relations Specialist (Working Title: Marketing Services Manager) - 109a.0910

Requirements (Degree/Experience):
1. A bachelor's degree in marketing, public relations, advertising, journalism, communication or closely related field and a minimum of three years experience in print and new media marketing communications.
2. Experience working with designers to create effective marketing materials.
3. Skilled proficiency to interview, research, develop and write original copy for marketing materials and the Web with a focus on the intended audience.
4. Knowledge of Associated Press (AP) and marketing communications writing styles.
5. Skilled proficiency to edit and proofread the work of other department employees.
6. Experience in a deadline-oriented environment with proven multi-tasking skills. Knowledge of MS Office software applications (i.e. Word, Excel, Access).

Responsibilities:
This position, reporting to the Web Brand and New Media Strategy Manager, works in a highly integrated, fast-paced team environment to coordinate production activities and information, including establishing marketing and other media project schedules; receiving, organizing and tracking marketing projects from concept and editorial development through the design phase and the production process; and ensuring production quality at all stages of the timely delivery of materials. The Marketing Services Manager also will write, edit and proofread copy for the University's diverse print and online marketing projects including eMarketing materials and external facing websites, incorporating search engine optimization best practices. The position will also oversee a team of graphic designers.

The position will also work closely with Executive Director, integrated marketing and communications, in University brand development and rollout. In addition, this position will work with the Dean of the College of Education and Human Services providing dedicated marketing communications support to the college.

Preferences:
1. Five or more years of experience writing and managing marketing communications.
2. Five or more years of experience supervising designers to create effective marketing materials.
3. Knowledge of electronic composition and print production.
4. Experience in the development and rollout, or use of, brand guidelines.
5. Experience working in higher education.
6. Experience with writing in a variety of styles, including in marketing and public relations voices.
7. Ability to do best-practice research and apply it to department projects and processes.

Competitive

.8 FTE Fixed-Term Terminal
