Responsibilities

The position's primary responsibility is to provide visionary leadership and administration of the University Studies Program (USP), which is the university's general education program, facilitating collaboration among faculty, staff, students, community members, and alumni to support exemplary teaching and learning. The successful candidate will be responsible for optimizing collaborative partnerships across campus for the purpose of creating and maintaining a highly effective and intentional program of general education that becomes a well-integrated foundation for teaching and learning in students' major programs of undergraduate study. The position is also responsible for managing public events and programming related to undergraduate teaching and learning, including professional development for the teaching community, alumni mentors, peer mentors, and community partners, as well as all-campus student learning opportunities and demonstrations. Furthermore, this position oversees the peer mentor program, civic engagement and alumni mentor programs, University Studies Program advising and registration, Learning Technologies ePortfolio (dual report), and the various writing, speaking and advanced composition components of the University Studies Program.

Requirements

1) Administrative experience in higher education
2) Doctorate of appropriate terminal degree
3) Eligibility for tenure in a UW Oshkosh academic department
4) Strong communication, interpersonal, analytical, strategic planning, and decision-making skills
5) Innovative leadership of undergraduate teaching and learning endeavors
6) Commitment to the principles of inclusive excellence
7) Demonstrated record of, and commitment to, teaching, scholarly activity and service
8) Experience facilitating collaborative dialogue as a mechanism of problem-solving and innovation across varying campus units
9) Demonstrated commitment to the ideals of a shared governance environment

Preferences

1) Leadership experience with a general education program
2) Experience with a campus teaching and learning center or similar faculty development program/endeavor with demonstrated  ability to support research-based teaching and learning
3) Commitment to public advocacy for the liberal arts
4) Willingness to foster academic diversity as well as the capacity to work collaboratively with diverse constituencies  
5) Administrative experience in a university system
