This position serves as the Director of University Books & More and the Corner Convenience Store which combined generate a total revenue of approximately $6 million annually. Responsibilities include: development and administration of operational policies and procedures; prepare, oversee, and implement the annual budget for both stores; purchase all clothing, gift, and card merchandise generating approximately $780,000 in sales annually; oversee the purchase of textbooks (over $4 million in sales), sundries ($430,000), supplies and electronics ($245,000), general books ($35,000), and greeting cards ($11,000); establish and oversee the merchandising and marketing programs for both stores; have working knowledge of every department within the Bookstore and Convenience Store; provide leadership that is flexible and collaborative when dealing with staff, campus, and community groups; and provide opportunities for the development of all employees
Bachelor's degree; Knowledge of retail management principles; Supervisory experience including interviewing, hiring, performance reviews, and dismissal of employees as necessary; Excellent oral and written communication skills; Working knowledge of current technology and marketing techniques; Experience in the use of a retail management store system; Experience with budget preparation and financial accountability.
Master's degree; 10 years of experience & knowledge of retail management principles, preferably in a higher education bookstore setting; 10 years of supervisory experience.
