Responsibilities

Among general duties to serve the mission of the College of Education and Human Services, the Associate Dean has the general responsibilities to assist the college with national and state accreditations; state, UW System and campus program assessment and reporting; serve as the dean's representative on college and university committees; guide curriculum and program planning and support; assist with faculty, staff and student relations; serve as an advisor to the Directors of the Office of Field Experience and the Professional Education Program Office; provide oversight of federal/state compliance reporting; facilitate student appeals; facilitate student academic support and advising; assist with college program and candidate assessment processes; provide college liaison to other campus colleges and divisions, is involved with the dean in furthering college relations with other UW System and private colleges of education, and serves as the college representative in the absence of the dean. The College of Education and Human Services employs approximately 120 faculty and staff and is organized into eight departments and several divisions. The college is one of four academic colleges on the campus of UW Oshkosh.

Requirements

Earned doctorate from a regionally accredited institution with a degree in teacher education, Human Services, Professional Counseling, or a closely related field with eligibility for tenure within a college department. Demonstrable academic administrative experience in higher education comparable to that of a department chair or greater including demonstrated appreciation of shared governance. Teaching experience in higher education for at least 5 years. Experience in at least one of the following: teaching in PK-12 as a licensed teacher, experience working with a human services organization, or experience in clinical professional counseling. Experience in institutional program assessment, state accreditation and licensure certification, general knowledge and experience in educational assessment technology particularly as to teacher education, experience in grant development and operations, a demonstrable interest and experience in college and K-12 diversity initiatives, such as Inclusive Excellence. Must demonstrate interest and experience in external program development and collaborations.

Preferences

Licensed administrative experience in K-12 schools, experience with national teacher education accreditation, management of accreditation related assessment and data acquisition, understanding and experience in graduate teacher education or related field including appreciation for current trends in colleges and K-12 districts, experience in program or curriculum development and reform, interest and experience in distance education (blended, ITV, MOOCs) as well as on-campus online education, experience in developing and acquiring significant grants at any level, interest and experience in developing relationships between colleges and human service agencies, interest and experience in development of collaborative initiatives between teacher education and PK-12 schools.
