Assistant Professor of Music-Music Education and Applied Music, 073a.1314




Teach undergraduate courses in music education (may include instrumental techniques courses, conducting, methods, ensemble direction, etc.). Assist with coordination of instrumental music education and mentor students in public school field experience. Teach applied studio(s) in one or more of the following instruments: oboe, bassoon, clarinet, saxophone, euphonium, tuba, cello. Actively recruit students. Participate in committee and other service work. Pursue professional relationships and leadership roles with music educators and in relevant professional associations. Additional teaching may be assigned based on candidate's strengths and department needs.


Doctorate in music education completed by September 2014; evidence of successful undergraduate teaching in music education and applied music; appropriate performance level for collegiate applied teaching; full-time teaching experience at the K-12 level; evidence of potential for significant scholarly and/or creative work. Doctorate in related area with professional agenda and prior degree in music education will be considered.


3 or more years of full-time teaching experience at the K-12 level
