Classified Permanent and Project Appointment Leave Information

What happens when a holiday falls on a Saturday or Sunday?

If a holiday falls on a Saturday, then you will receive legal holiday time to use at another time (floating holiday), much like vacation. It will show up on your earning statement under LH as part of the balence. These hours must be used by December 31st of the current year or they will be lost.

If a holiday lands on a Sunday, then it will be observed on the following Monday. The University would be closed on that Monday.

When to use your leave by:

Vacation Carryover (VC) - use by June 30th of the current year or it will be lost.

Current Year's Vacation (VN) -  use by June 30th of the following year or it will be lost. In other words, you have 18 months to use VN before it is lost.

Personal Holiday (PH) - use by December 31st of the current year or it will be lost

Legal Holiday (LH) - use by December 31st of the current year or it will be lost; typically, LH  is earned and used within the same pay period. If you have hours listed on your earning statement, you must use them by December 31st or they will be lost.

Compensatory Time (CT)
