PLEASE NOTE--LGBT stands for Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, and Transgender--

1. Are you a student or faculty member? What subject or department are you in? For students, are you in the college of education or what are your plans after college?

2. Do you, or have you, participated on any LGBT events that have taken place on campus? If so, has it benefited you and why?

3.To the best of your knowledge, how are LGBT issues raised in the curriculum? Are LGBT issues likely to be raised in certain courses more than others? What methods and materials are used to raise and discuss these issues?

4. Who is likely to raise LGBT issues in the program? Students? Faculty? Do you make use of outside resources such as GLSEN (Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network), the Human Rights Campaign, The International Gay and Lesbian Athletic Foundation, other LGBT programs, etc?

5. How have students responded to the inclusion of these issues? How might they respond?

6. How are these issues discussed among the teacher education faculty? What have been the results of these discussions?

7. How does the administration (department chairs, deans, etc.) view the inclusion of these issues?

8.To your knowledge, has there been any inclusion of LGBT topics in your texts? Are you aware of any library resources available to students that center around LGBT characters or deals with the subject of homosexuality?

9. Are you or know other students/faculty members who are SAFE trained?

10. Have there been any students that have come to you about their sexual orientation? What was the outcome?

11.How often do you hear derogatory remarks? How often are the remarks homophobic? What has been your course of actions?

12. Are there any instances where you felt unsafe or frustrated because of homophobic remarks made in the locker room, classroom, etc? Why?

14. What benefits would you obtain from these issues in the curriculum?
