WELCOME TO THE
UNIVERSITY HONORS STUDENT ASSOCIATION
The University Honors Student Association (UHSA) welcomes Honors students to campus and offers a support network of peers. The UHSA holds fun meetings, participates in the administration of the program, and plans social, volunteer, and cultural activities.
Popular UHSA events include trips to Milwaukee and Chicago to attend plays and concerts as well as on-campus Blood Drives and the Pizza with Professors Series. All UHP students are invited to join UHSA and to participate in events.
UHSA is a great way to become involved in student life at UW Oshkosh and we are always open to new ideas and new faces! Contact any of the 2011-2012 Executive Board Officers with your questions and suggestions (see list below).

UHSA Happennings & Events
2011-2012
The Pizza with Professors series continued on Tuesday, November 29, at 6PM in Polk 17.
UHSA members and guests met with guest speaker Dr. Michael Baltutis, Assistant Professor of Religious Studies, who discussed his current research, his travels in South Asia, and his graduate school experiences. Dr. Baltutis earned his PhD at the University of Iowa in 2008.
Pizza with Professors is a UHP tradition each fall and spring where students can get to know an Honors professor, participate in Q&A, and enjoy FREE pizza!
2010-2011:
Saturday, April 30: Annual Spring Trip (Milwaukee)
Stops included transportation to The Domes at the Mitchell Park Conservatory, the Milwaukee Public Market, the Milwaukee Art Museum, dinner at Tulip, and the Milwaukee Rep's production of Death of a Salesman--all for $20 per student!

Red Cross Returning to Reeve for UHSA's Fall 2010 Blood Drive
The UHSA will be running its fall Blood Drive from 11AM to 5PM on Tuesday, November 30, in Reeve 227A. Stop by anytime or if you prefer to schedule an appointment, reservations can be made online. For more info or to serve as a Blood Drive volunteer, contact a UHSA board member.
Monday, November 22: Pizza with Professors
The series continues at 5PM in the Honots Lounge (Polk 17) with guest speaker Dr. Larry Carlin of the Philosophy Department. His topis will be "Traveling through Intellectual History: What Is the Point?" As always, Pizza with Professors means that FREE pizza will be provided. Thsi event will include a talk and Q&A, and will conclude between 6 and 6:30. Please join us!
Thursday, November 18: Kevin Meehan, Guest Speaker for African American Studies Fall Lecture Series, Recalls Haiti
Dr. Kevin Meehan, Associate Professor of English and Director of the University of Central Florida Haitian Studies Project, will discuss "African American and Haitian Solidarity: From the Battle of Savannah to the Haitian Bicentennial" from 7PM to 9PM in Reeve 307. This event is cosponsored by the Black Student Union, the Department of English, and the UHP.
Thursday, November 11: UHSA's Next Puppy Chow & Meow Mix Sale to Benefit Local Shelter
This fall's fundraiser will be set up in the library's main entrance from 10AM to 3PM and will benefit the Oshkosh Area Humane Society.

Wednesday, April 21, 2010: Pizza with Professors
In preparation for our visit to the Art Institute, Dr. Susan Maxwell, Assistant Professor of Art History in the Art Department, will give a talk on Henri Matisse at 12:00PM in Polk 17. The UHP will provide FREE pizza and beverages for this special presentation. Please join us!
Saturday, April 24,2010: UHSA Annual Spring Trip
This year, the UHSA has planned a full day in the Windy City, including a visit to the Art Institute (featuring a rare Henri Matisse exhibit), dinner, and a final stop at the Porchlight Music Theatre to see the musical Into the Woods. A fee of $20 includes all tickets, coach bus to and from campus, and dinner.

American Red Cross Blood Drive from 11:00AM to 5:00PM, Reeve 227A

Wednesday, April 28: UHSA Spring Semester Puppy Chow & Bake Sale
The University Honors Student Association is getting ready for its next fundraiser. Puppy chow and other treats will be availlable for purchase on beginning at 10:00AM in the main entrance of Polk Library. All proceeds will go to Mercy Corps in honor of Kirwins Charles, UHP Associate December 2008, in the ongoing efforts to assist the people of Haiti.
