The UHP's Fall Convocation is an annual gathering of new and returning Honors students, faculty, and staff. The event for many years has taken place at the historic Pollock Alumni House. This informal celebration of each new academic year is also an opportunity to showcase the latest Program news, upcoming events, a special keynote speaker, and a catered reception.
UHP 11th Annual Convocation
On September 19, 2013, the UHP held its Eleventh Annual Fall Convocation at Pollock Alumni House. UHP DirectorDr. Larry Carlin, along with the UHSA President, Shane Conner, shared the latest Program updates as well as exciting upcoming events and activities. The well-attended event brought together the largest number of new and returning Honors students, faculty, and staff to date.
Dr. Stephen Szydlik, Associate Professor in the Mathematics Department, was this year's keynote speaker. His talk wowed all those in attendance as he showed them how to decode their driver's license numbers and made them aware of numerical patterns and mathematics in their everyday lives. He also set a positive tone for the new academic year by encouraging everyone to step off the beaten path and to remain open to new experiences.
Thank you, Dr. Szydlik, for making this year's event a great success!
