News & Events
The University Honors Program is going strong at thirty-five years old! We'll be gathering THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 29, at 5:00 in Sage 1216 to mark this milestone during the 14th Annual Honors Convocation. UHP news and upcoming activities for 2016-2017 will be announced, followed by a keynote address from our esteemed presenter, Dr. Roberta S. Maguire, Professor and Chair of the Department of English and Oshkosh Northwestern Endowed Professor of Liberal Arts. Her talk is entitled "Cultivating Curiosity: The Example of Albert Murray." Dr. Maguire is a longtime Honors instructor whose service as Director of the UHP spanned three terms (2003-2012). Her vision was instrumental in developing and shaping the Honors Core curriculum, creating an Honors Council, setting long-term goals for our students' success and retention, and much more. Indeed, it is she who launched many Honors traditions, including the Honors Convocation to which you're invited on September 29! Please plan to attend this special event; it is open to Honors students and their guests, Honors faculty and staff, Honors alumni, and all of our colleagues and partners across campus.

The University Honors Student Association has invited Dr. Erin Winterrowd as the next guest for Pizza with Professors, a longstanding UHP tradition. Dr. Winterrowd, a faculty member in the Department of Psychology since 2007, has also contributed significantly to the UHP both as an HNRS 175 instructor and as an Honors Thesis advisor (more times than anyone on the Honors staff can count!). Winterrowd's varied research interests include gender and cultural influences on human behavior (with particular attention to issues of suicide), under-represented groups in science and engineering, and mental health services within the University of Wisconsin System. Please join us for another stimulating Pizza with Professors event! We'll get started--and the pizza will be ready too--at 4:30. We hope to see you and your friends on Tuesday, April 12!
The UHP and the University Honors Student Association are pleased to announce this year's Spring Trip. We'll travel to Milwaukee for a guided tour of the Pabst Mansion, live entertainment, dinner, and more. The itinerary is set and we hope you are too! Note: As of April 1, this trip is sold out.
