A Welcome from the Director

Carlin_Larry_.jpgWelcome to the website of the University Honors Program (UHP) at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh. Here you will find information about the Program, and the many opportunities it affords our highly motivated students.

The student-faculty relationship is at the center of our mission. The UHP fosters a community in which high-achieving students can experience the best educational practices: small discussion-based classes, unique team-taught classes, a low student-faculty ratio, opportunities for collaborative research, numerous co-curricular opportunities, and much more.  Our graduates are routinely hired by employers or accepted by the professional and graduate programs of their choice.

It is important to note that the UHP is not an AP program of the sort one finds in high schools. The emphasis is not on assigning extra work or extra classes needed for graduation, but is on providing special opportunities for our high-achieving students.

Another New Record: Thirty-Nine Winding Up UHP Curriculum in May

Seven students at the Associate level (those who are completing their Honors and major requirements with a cumulative GPA of 3.2 to 3.49) and thirty-two at the Graduate level (those who are completing their Honors and major requirements with a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher) will be awarded Honors Certificates and Medallions, respectively, at the Honors Graduation Ceremony. Shamrock Shuffle Preparations Underway

If you'd like to join the University Honors Program's Shamrock Shuffle team, the entry fee is $20. Race day will take place on Saturday, March 14, at 10:00 a.m., and fees will be collected at Oviatt House through Tuesday, March 3. The UHP is happy to announce a very special evening featuring Mr. Frank Almond (Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra), who will be playing his three hundred-year-old Stradivarius, and Dr. Eli Kalman, Associate Professor of Piano in the Department of Music, whom many of you already know for his exceptional contributions to the music section of HNRS 275: Culture Connection.
