Press Releases

Sigma Pi has productive October

In October Sigma Pi fraternity participated in three philanthropies and placed 2nd in homecoming. Philanthropies include volunteering at Titan Nights, participating in Hands on Oshkosh, and spending an afternoon with the ladies of Alpha Xi Delta and the Oshkosh Boys and Girls Club. Sigma Pi, along with Alpha Xi Delta sorority and Omega Delta Phi fraternity, teamed up to have an impressive second place finish at Homecoming 2009. October proved to be an exciting month for Sigma Pi, and the brothers look forward to a busy second half of the semester.

Beta Theta Pi is SAFE

The Zeta Zeta chapter of Beta Theta Pi has focused on reaching out to our school community in many ways this semester. Almost half of our active members were either Odyssey leaders or captains this year to help the new students become better integrated into our academic community. With Titan Nights being a huge deal on campus, our chapter decided to get involved and volunteer. We had all of our members run the casino night section of last month’s Titan Nights. Recently our entire chapter, both active and new members, attended the SAFE training session put on the LGBTQ center making us all SAFE trained. We are currently taking steps to reach out to many different organizations within the entire Oshkosh community and within the next few months we hope to provide support to them through involving not only ourselves but our campus as well.

Omega Delta Phi visits local schools

Omega Delta Phi visits local high schools to encourage students to graduate from high
school and seek higher education. During the month of October, Omega Delta Phi and the Student Organization of Latinos visited Fond du Lac High School and took questions from high students that they had about college. Both organizations invited the high students to UW Oshkosh for a college visit. Omega Delta Phi and the Student Organization of Latinos will be visiting Madison East Side High School in November.

Events
We are currently running a supply drive for the Christine Ann Center and that boxes can be found in the SLIC and Titan Central and also that applications for IFC Executive Board 2010 are now available online through the Greek Life Website

WHO ARE WE?

The InterFraternity Council (IFC) is the representative body for campus fraternities.  Whereas each fraternity has its own individual goals, the IFC provides a general direction for the growth and betterment of all fraternities.

WHAT DO WE DO?

The IFC meets to conduct business and to discuss any pressing issues in the Greek community.  We work to promote fraternities at the University of Wisconsin/Oshkosh.  IFC is also the main channel of communication between the University and the Greek community.

ANNUAL GOALS TO BE ACCOMPLISHED BY IFC

Organize a philanthropy event for each academic semester.  Preferably, one of the events should be focused on a campus related cause while the other should focus on an off-campus or national cause.

Review of IFC by-laws and relationship statement at least once a year.

Have an active involvement in Greek Week, Greek Forum and other related activities.

Updating of IFC website at least once a month with current information.

Make use of Greek office at the Involvement Center.

Continue maintaining a good relationship between fraternities and the University.

Organize the presentation of a campus or Greek related speaker every semester.

IFC will organize a formal recruitment period every fall semester.

Fraternities at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh exist by the consent and support of the University Administration and the Oshkosh Student Association. Recognizing that close interfraternity, University and community relationships are essential in promoting and perpetuating the ideals of fraternity life, we hereby establish for that purpose the Interfraternity Council at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh.
