Upon our arrival in London, it was a special treat to be met by a private coach for our ride across the city to the Globe Trotter Inn, a very well-equipped hostel. With only a week in London, the schedule was a busy one of classes and numerous site visits which included a tour of the Globe Theatre, the National Gallery of Art, the Tate Modern, the British Museum and British Library.

Our visit to Greenwich

During our day trip to Greenwich, we toured the Royal Naval College (its chapel and painted hall), the remains of Greenwich Palace and the Skittles Alley of the Old Sailors. After visiting the National Maritime Museum, there was, of course, the obligatory trek up the hill to the Royal Observatory for a chance to view the world from two hemispheres completed the day. An overlap with the G20 conference provided an interesting frame for our activities and as well as an opportunity to witness world concerns amidst local reactions.

Our final night ended with a relaxed gathering for pizza and "biscuits" at the hostel with many fond "remembrances of things past." Saturday morning and the arrrival of our last travel day...destination - HOME ! The final transfer was made easy by our own personal "Heathrow Express" coach...a much appreciated, door to door service, just in time, it appeared, since the obesity of luggage was approaching epidemic proportions. After a quick checkin, everyone settled in and waited for the call to board. As the tesserae of the European Odyssey 2009 mosiac began to form a whole picture, the metamorphous from reality to memory began to slowly advance. As has been the case with many previous Odyssey students at this point, the usual question of "Where to next?" began to germinate.... The World beckons....
