Welcome to Our Picture Gallery

A beautiful, sunny day greeted us as we sang "Arrivederci Roma" and made our way to the Termini to begin our morning journey through the Tuscany countryside to Florence. Florence in the warm, morning sunshine is truly a breath taking sight. Once situated in our respective quarters, we struck out on a walking tour of the heart of the city. Even though we have only a week here in Florence, we hope to document it well in photos. Below are a few that have already started rolling in...

Florence is a very "accessible" city, with much to see at every turn. Our planned visits during the week took us into the Baptistry of the Cathedral, the magnificent Duomo and its crypt... and, the non-faint-hearted even made the daunting climb to the top of Brunelleschi's historic dome for a memorable drink of the Arno River valley. Truly a highlight of our Florence stay was an afternoon visit to the world-renowned Uffizi Gallery to view centuries of artistic monuments. Additional time was spent in the Medicee Cappelle, the Church of San Lorenzo, the Bargello Museum, the Church of Santa Croce, and, of course, the Accademia where we all gazed in wonder at Michaengelo's David. Free time was spent by many wandering the Boboli Gardens, biking in the Tuscan hills, touring wineries and taking in the ever changing street scenes of the living museum that is Firenza.

Bidding farewell to our hostel and new friends, and with a not so secretly expressed promise to return someday soon, we slogged off to the Termini once again to embark upon another one of our (hopefully forgetable) overnight train journeys, with Paris as our morning destination. Join us as we continue our pictorial journey by visiting the Paris gallery page.
