Requirements and Rules
Students must select one of the following types of entry to execute for the contest. Combination of different types of entries or multiple entries per person is not allowed.
Requirements
1. Essay*
• 400 – 800 words, typed and double spaced with word count
• Include a cover page with title, name, date and “I Chose UWO”
Prompt: thoughtfully respond to one of the following questions
o How has UWO helped you grow as a person? Academically? Creatively?
o How does UWO represent who you are? Be specific.
o Tell a unique story about how UWO has helped you achieve a goal or overcome an obstacle.
o Share your unique story about how you chose UWO.
o Describe an experience you had at UWO that has taught you more about who you are.
Completed entries should be e-mailed to:imcprojects@uwosh.edu with the subject line reading 'I CHOSE UWO' - YOUR NAME HERE.
2. Photo Gallery*
• 5-15 pictures themed to one idea
o Showing your experiences at UWO
o Capturing what is unique about UWO
• Photos will eventually be uploaded to Facebook.com
Example themes:
• View from below – pictures taken from a ground-up perspective
• Serene shapes – shapes formed from natural landscapes at UWO
Final entries will be submitted via CD to the Integrated Marketing and Communications Office, Dempsey 238. CD should be accompanied by a cover page with name, theme of entry and explanation of the theme (maximum 200 words). Explanation should detail why the theme was chosen, how it relates to the pictures and how it represents UWO.
3. Video*
• 30-90 second themed video
o Show you school spirit in telling us why you chose UWO
o Create a 30 or 60 second TV commercial saying why someone should attend UWO
o Showcase your favorite, unique spot on campus and why it is meaningful to you.
• Videos will eventually be uploaded to youtube.com
Final entries will be submitted via DVD to the Integrated Marketing and Communications Office, Dempsey 238. DVD should be accompanied by a cover page with name, theme of entry and explanation of the theme (maximum 200 words). Explanation should detail why the theme was chosen, how it relates to the video and how it represents UWO.
All entries are due by Friday September 18, 2009.
*Three finalists must also participate in an on-camera interview to speak and expand upon their entry. Each participant will have between 30 seconds and two minutes to creatively explain the meaning of their entry.
Rules
The I Chose UWO planning team reserves the right to reject any entry if deemed inappropriate or offensive to the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh. By submitting your contest entry, you agree to give UW Oshkosh absolutely, the copyright and/or the right to copyright photographs and/or video tapes of you and the reproduction thereof, either wholly or in part, and the unrestricted use thereof in whatever manner the University or its licensees or assignees may in their absolute discretion think fit for all and any advertising or other purposes whatsoever, including the right of necessary retouching, and tinting or work up for reproduction purposes.
