The City of Oshkosh
With a population of more than 65,000, Oshkosh, Wis., is consistently ranked among the top small cities in the nation
in which to live. Located along the Fox River and bordered by Lake
Winnebago and Lake Butte des Morts, Oshkosh offers excellent water
sports entertainment, including ice fishing, sailing regattas and the
annual Dragonboat Race and Festival.
With a revitalized downtown within walking distance of campus, you can
shop at one of the local boutiques or dine at a bistro-style coffee
house.
Students can enjoy affordable outlet shopping with popular stores, such as Nike, Old Navy, Aeropostale, Gap, Bath & Body Works and PacSun or watch hit movies at the local cinema. Live music can be found at Oshkosh’s large summer music festivals, Country USA and Waterfest. For those interested in the arts, the Paine Art Center and Gardens and Grand Opera House offer unique cultural and theatrical events and presentations. Attracting over 800,000 people, Oshkosh is renowned for its Experimental Aircraft Association’s AirVenture and Museum, the world’s largest aviation celebration.
The Surrounding Area
Within a half-hour drive from campus, you can attend a Broadway show at Appleton’s world-class Fox Cities Performing Arts Center (PAC) or visit the city’s premier shopping center, Fox River Mall. An hour drive from campus, Green Bay offers great sporting entertainment, including Green Bay Packers football and Green Bay Gamblers hockey games.

UW Oshkosh’s vibrant campus offers opportunities for exploration, entertainment and enrichment. Join one of the more than 150 clubs and student organizations spanning a diverse range of interests. Attend a number of presentations, concerts and theatrical performances, play for an intramural or Division III team or participate in service learning.
