What you Need to Know

Secure your place

Secure your place in the freshman class of 2009! Your admissions packet includes information about the required $100 enrollment deposit. At this time, you should submit your deposit and sign up for an "Odyssey 2009: The Beginning" orientation date. This step is critical to securing your spot in the class. Being admitted does not guarantee you a spot in the class;  securing your Odyssey date does.

Your deposit will be credited toward fall 2009 tuition. If you decide to cancel your admission to UW Oshkosh, your deposit will be refunded provided you send written notification to the Admissions Office, postmarked no later than May 1, 2009. Tuition deposits are non-refundable after May 1, 2009.

Strive for a great senior year

It's important to remember that your senior year performance can affect your admission to UW Oshkosh. Your admittance to the University was based upon the courses you have completed and the courses you are scheduled to take. Dropping or failing any of your classes could impact your admission status. If your enrollment changes, please contact the Admissions Office to notify us of these changes.

All current high school seniors must request that their high school send a final official transcript (indicating your graduation date, final rank/class size, and GPA) to the UW Oshkosh Admissions Office. Your final official transcript must be received by July 1, 2009.

About AP, CAPP, Youth Options, CLEP or other college credits

If you have taken an AP, CLEP or IB test and would like to receive credit at UW Oshkosh, make sure to have the official test report(s) sent to the Admissions Office. If you have questions, contact Paul Gedlinske at (920) 424-0404 or gedlinsk@uwosh.edu.

If you have CAPP, Youth Options or collegiate credits from a college or university other than UW Oshkosh, arrange to have official transcripts sent from the institution you attended.

Housing and Dining

Housing

Within three weeks of receiving your admission letter, Residence Life will mail you an information packet containing a residence hall section card and housing and dining services contract. Submit the residence hall selection card and contract along with a $150 housing deposit to secure a residence hall room.

View the Residence Hall living brochure.

Your housing and roommate assignment will be mailed to you by the middle of June. You can also view your housing assignment information online at http://housing.uwosh.edu beginning in June.

Planning to commute to campus? All freshman are required to live on campus unless you live within a 45-mile radius of the University and plan to commute from your parents’ or legal guardian’s home. If you meet the criteria and plan to commute, you must complete and send in the commuter information card included in your housing packet.

Dining

Included with the housing information is the University dining selection card. All students living in the residence halls must choose a meal plan.
Commuter students can choose from a variety of meal plans or opt not to purchase a meal plan. Once you have chosen a meal plan, complete and send in your selection card.

Scholarships and Financial Aid

Freshman Scholarships

Financial Aid

All students should file the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) as soon as possible after Jan. 1, 2009. The priority filing deadline for financial aid is March 15, 2009. To be considered for any type of financial aid, you must file your FAFSA by this date. The UW Oshkosh school code for the FAFSA is 003920.

File your FAFSA online.

UW System Placement Tests in Math, English and Foreign Languages

In late January, you should receive information about taking the UW System regional placement tests, which will be offered on Saturday mornings in March and April. You must complete the English and math placement tests unless you have taken a transferable college course in English or math. An optional foreign language placement test is also offered. Placement testing should be completed in March or April so that your academic adviser can access your test scores by your orientation date in May or June.

Odyssey 2009: The Beginning

In May or June, you will attend "Odyssey 2009: The Beginning" orientation and registration. Specific information regarding this program will be sent to your home address around April 15.
