The tension that I am specifically interested in is between the domestic woman and the woman of sexual desire--historically known as the mother/mistress conflict. The work isn’t necessarily taking sides between the taboo or the "ladylike" but materializing the tension for the viewer to decipher. I find it to be more interesting to exemplify the conflict rather than choosing a side. In my series of "Samplers," "Motherboards" and now my most recent series entitled "Moral Fiber," I attempt to blur the line between female figures, by removing them from their context and allowing the viewer to distinguish between acceptable and unacceptable--private and public.
