Positions Available
- Parking Attendants help guests find parking in various lots.
- Golf Cart Drivers provide complimentary shuttle service from the outlying parking lots to Kolf Sports Center.
- Registration Workers greet graduates, distribute name cards and honor cords.
- Ushers help seat guests with special seating needs, including those with disabilities and assist with general questions in the upper level of Kolf.
- Marshals line up graduates, lead them upstairs and direct them to the appropriate seats. Throughout the ceremony, marshals assist in directing graduates and guests.
Orientation & Training
A mandatory training session is held on Thursday, Dec. 10 in the lower level of Kolf Sports Center (athletics conference room). At this time, we'll go over your role in the ceremony, give you a tour of Kolf and answer any questions you might have. The tentative times for training sessions are as follows:
- 2:30 - 3:00 p.m. Parking attendants & Golf Cart Drivers
- 3:00 - 3:30 p.m. Registration Workers
- 3:30 - 4:00 p.m. Ushers
- 4:15 - 5:00 p.m. Marshals
- 5:00 - 5:30 p.m. Platform party attendants & special ushers, etc.
- 6 p.m. Make up session
Hours
On commencement day, student workers are needed from 7 a.m. until 3 p.m. Shifts generally range from two to seven hours. Registration and parking positions are generally two hour shifts. Golf Cart positions are approximately 5 hours. Ushers and Marshals generally work through the end of the ceremony and also serve as the clean up crew.
Additional Set-Up Hours
In addition, we'll need some students to work additional hours (set-up) on Thursday, Dec. 17 and Friday, Dec. 18. During this time we set up the line up rooms, distribute programs, and move all of the commencement supplies and materials into place. Please indicate on your application if you would like to work additional hours.
The tentative hours are:
Thursday: 1p.m. - 6 p.m.
Friday: 1 p.m. - 6 p.m.
