History Department Outreach Position

*Job Description:

The position entails creating new and enhancing old methods of communication between the History Department and its current majors and minors, as well as alumni and prospective students. Among other activities, the student will maintain the History department’s Facebook page, write a newsletter about the department’s activities (one fall and one spring issue). The position will also involve creating posters and handouts for Preview Days, as well as other activities to be determined.

Feedback Methods: 

1. An initial interview between applicant and supervisor to explain responsibilities and tasks to be assigned. 
2. Bi-weekly reviews to assess the quantity and quality of work performed and outline subsequent tasks. 
3. An exit interview to review project and to determine the extent to which the learning outcomes have been met.

Qualifications:

Completion of at least 6 credits in History with preference given to History majors and minors; familiarity with relevant computers programs, such as Word, Publisher, Dreamweaver, etc. candidate mist be self-motivated, disciplined, and able both to collaborate on a project and work independently.

Information About STEP

The STEP [Student Titans Employment Program] was developed to help address some of our affordability, quality and workload issues.  The program offers students educationally related opportunities while providing faculty and staff members with need assistance in areas such as media services, student-faculty research, supplemental instruction, library assistance, instructional technology and computing support, and web page development and maintenance.
