PrePodiatry (UNDER CONSTRUCTION)
This is a medical career that concentrates on the ankle and foot, often with athletes or geriatric patients. Recruiters tell me that it is a great alternative to being a physician for someone who is concerned about having enough time for family in addition to the career. There are only a handful of podiatry schools in the US but several are in the midwest. Most applicants complete a Bachelor's degree first but you can apply with only 90 credits (i.e. 3 years of college). Two years of Chem (General and Organic), a year of Physics, 1-2 years of Biology, and English are required, as is the MCAT.
Is this the right career for you? Contact the UWO Counseling Center for personal guidance and recommendations, understanding that the person you are as a college freshman is not the person you'll be upon entrance to podiatry school.
