Mission, Vision and Values
Who can use the health center?
- All students currently enrolled are eligible for services.
- When school is not in session there is a fee to see a health care provider unless the visit is for follow-up care.
- Students auditing a class are not eligible for service.
- Students enrolled in summer camp programs contracted for services may be seen at the Student Health Center.

Confidentiality
All health care is completely confidential. In accordance with State and Federal laws, personal/health information will not be shared with campus administration, faculty, parents or other students unless you sign an “Authorization for Disclosure of Health Information”.
The University of Wisconsin Oshkosh Student Health Center is compliant with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA). HIPAA is the law which regulates the privacy of your medical record. All students will receive information about this law and how we ensure the privacy of your medical record at the time of your first visit to the Health Center.
Know Your Rights
- Patients have the right to:
- Be treated with dignity and respect
- Privacy
- Confidentiality of care and medical records
- Receive accurate information about diagnosis, treatment and prognosis
- Participate in decisions about care and give informed consent before any procedure is performed
- Be informed of options for after-hours and emergency care
- Information about costs and payment related to services provided
- Refuse to participate in experimental research
- Choose their health care provider
- Know the names, positions, and credentials of health care providers
- Review and receive copies of medical records
- Be seen within a reasonable amount of time
- Refuse treatment and be informed of the consequences of refusal
- Not be discriminated against because of race, creed, sex, national origin, sexual orientation, or disabilities
- Patients have the responsibility to:
- Seek medical attention promptly
- Be honest about their medical history
- Ask about anything they do not understand
- Respect clinic personnel and policies
- Follow health advice and medical instructions
- Report any significant changes in symptoms or failure to improve
- Keep appointments or cancel in advance
- Provide useful feedback about services and policies
- Pay for charges incurred
Accreditation
The University of Wisconsin Oshkosh Student Health Center is accredited by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care. Accreditation ensures that the policies and practices governing the Student Health Center are efficient, current and maintain high quality standards.
