Powerful grant-searching tools available at your fingertips

Looking for grant opportunities? Here are two good places to start:

* Grants Resource Center subscribers (including UW Oshkosh) have access to GRC’s comprehensive funding information system, GrantSearch. This database of more than 1,800 government and private funding programs is exclusively designed for public colleges and universities. To access the database, go to www.aascu.org/grc/ and sign in (logon and password are available from on-campus computers at www.uwosh.edu/grants/restricted/aascu_grc_handout.doc).

* Sponsored Programs Information Network (SPIN) is a database designed to provide up-to-date information about current federal, non-federal and international funding opportunities, including fellowships, research grants, publication support, sabbatical support, Request for Agreements ( NIH Guide ) curriculum development, conference support, Request for Proposals (Commerce Business Daily ) and more. The database contains more than 2,500 sponsoring agencies, which together fund more than 11,000 separate opportunities. Primary source information is obtained directly from the sponsoring agencies to ensure the data’s integrity. SPIN enables users to search using selections from various categories (keywords, location, sponsor, deadline). SPIN Plus includes the SPIN funding database plus SMARTS expertise database and the GENIUS funding alert component. E-mail alerts are sent whenever new database matches occur. Some subscribers receive daily alerts. Click to log on to the database. There is a link to a user’s tutorial under “Help.”
