Explore Teaching Communities

These small group dialogues will provide a forum for discussion of key teaching and learning issues in Explore courses. 

Instructors will receive a $500 stipend for participating in at least 4 of the 5 sessions and revising their Explore course. Resources (books, articles, etc.) will be provided for all participants. 

Group One: Meets on Tuesdays @ 3 p.m. 

Meeting dates: Feb. 11, Feb. 18, March 11, April 8, and April 29

Group Two: Meets on Wednesdays @ 9:10 a.m. 

Meeting dates: Feb. 12, Feb. 19, April 2, April 16, and April 30

Group Three: Meets on Thursdays @ 1:20 p.m. 

Meeting dates: Feb. 13, Feb. 20, March 13, April 10, and May 1

Group Four: Meets on Fridays @ 8 a.m.

Meeting dates: Feb. 14, Feb. 21, March 14, April 11, and May 2 

All meetings will be held at the Pollock House. 

Suggested focus for each meeting by week: 

(topics are flexible based on instructor/group needs and preferences) 

Week 1: Communities of Practice and Syllabus Exchange

Week 2: Backwards Course Design

Week 3:  Decoding the Disciplines 

Week 4:  Signature Question Exploration 

Week 5: ePortfolio as a learning methodology
