Eric Brunsell, CETL Coordinator

Eric Brunsell, Ed.D. (Montana State University, 2006) serves as the Interim Coordinator for the Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning. Eric is an Associate Professor in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction. He teaches science methods, general methodology, and participatory action research (scholarly teaching) courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels. He has been both a mentor and mentee in CETL's Scholarship of Teaching and Learning Mentor Program. He also participated in CETL's two-year Scholarly Teaching Excellence through Peer Support (STEPS) program. Over the past six years, Eric has advised nearly 100 SOTL projects for K-12 teachers. In addition to teaching, Eric actively provides professional development for K-12 science teachers internationally. In 2011, Eric was elected as District 12 Director for the National Science Teachers Association. He also serves on the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction's Science Leadership Team. Lori J. Carrell, Director

Lori J. Carrell, Ph.D. (University of Denver, 1991), professor of communication, currently serves as Interim Director of the University Studies Program while supporting Eric in his CETL Coordination. Dr. Carrell’s professional vision is to educate, inspire, and equip others to maximize the transformative power of the spoken word. She teaches intercultural communication, instructional communication, oral interpretation, public speaking, communication research methods, and conflict. The majority of her publications are in the area of communication in the classroom though she recently published a second book entitled Preaching that Matters: Reflective Practice for Transforming Preaching. She has previously been awarded the UW Oshkosh Endowment for Excellence Professorship and the Weaver Award for Outstanding College Educator in Wisconsin.
