More than 250 graduate students and alumni are employed at UW Oshkosh each year.

Graduate Assistants

Graduate Assistantships are work-based financial support awards available to qualified, admitted, enrolled graduate students. Graduate Assistants work in their academic field or in a closely related area. Functions include laboratory assistance, research, tutoring, proctoring and other academic-oriented work.  The work of a Graduate Assistant is meant to compliment their degree program.

Career and Professional Development

Career and Professional Development is available to help students with career information, advice and occupational guidance. Whether as a first-year student or a graduate student, they are here to help you achieve your vocational goals.

Handshake is an online recruiting and job database for students, faculty, staff, alumni and employers.  Graduate students and graduate alumni who wish to take advantage of this benefit need to establish an account.  Contact Career and Professional Development directly to get started.

College of Business Internships

The College of Business Internship Program connects qualified UW Oshkosh students in internship and career placements. Human Resources

Current graduate students may be eligible for positions on the UW Oshkosh campus. Opportunities offered through the Human Resources office include administrative support, craft and trade positions (University staff), teaching assignments (Instructional Academic Staff), and professional/administrative service positions (Professional/Administrative Academic Staff). Student Titan Employment Program (STEP)

Student Titan Employment Program (STEP)

The Student Titan Employment Program (STEP) has held an important role in providing high-impact, campus-based employment for the students of the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh. Now the program has been expanded to provide positions specifically for the University’s graduate students.  All current positions are posted in Handshake.

Student Assistants

Student assistant employment opportunities are available campus-wide and represent a gamut of skills and experience levels. Unlike graduate assistants, student assistant positions are paid hourly with a biweekly pay schedule, do not include fringe benefits, and are usually not contracted through the Office of Graduate Studies (therefore, eligibility requirements are at the discretion of the hiring unit). Salary ranges vary depending on the position description and department.

The Office of Graduate Studies regularly employs student assistants and this process is done through HandShake online. Look for our listings there.

Writing Center

The Writing Center hires both graduate and undergraduate students. They hire new employees on an as needed basis. If interested, please visit the Writing Center website for more information.
