This course emphasizes the provision of healing practices, comfort, and the control of pain/discomfort for clients with an array of diagnoses. Definitions, theories and concepts related to healing, pain, comfort and palliative care are discussed. The myths surrounding comfort and healing practices are addressed. Leadership in healing care will be stressed including leadership of the interdisciplinary team and the ability to be a change agent. Healing and comfort care management practices will include conventional interventions and natural/alterative/complementary (NAC) practices.


Nursing 700, Adv. Health Assessment; Nursing 704, Pathophysiology.
Prerequisites/corequisites: Nursing 709, Pharmacotherapeutics.
