ELEM ED 729: Implementation and Assessment of RtI in Mathematics

This course is designed to guide inservice teachers in developing an understanding of elementary level mathematics through applied problem solving. Emphasis will be placed on the research-based knowledge, concepts, and principles of cognitive contructivist learning theory applied to teaching mathematics and authentic assessment of learning. This course will be co-taught by professors from Curriculum & Instruction and Special Education. Teachers will explore application of the Response to Intervention (RtI) initiative in the mathematics classroom. Differentiation of instruction/universal design, formative and summative assessment, collaboration, and development of Tier I-III interventions for students will be developed, implemented, and evaluated.
