SOC WORK 706: Social Welfare Institutions

This course examines the origins of and changes in American social welfare arrangements to meet human needs. It traces the evolution of the social work profession and social welfare efforts in relation to major economic, social and political forces over time that define populations at risk; and the nature of social and economic justice in the U.S. This course prepares students for the study of social welfare policy that is informed by its past.
Students enroll in this course during their first semester.
