This course may be offered with different content. With a different subtitle, it may be taken twice with the signature of the department chair. Genres covered may include poetry, essays, satire and/or drama of the long 18th century (1660-1837); topics covered may include imperialism, nationalism, gender, class and/or racial issues, country life versus city life, Enlightenment, revolution and literary professionalism. The course may or may not cover the entire period of the long 18th century. 362/562
