This course reviews developments in second language theory and practice, explores ways to teach and integrates the skills of reading, writing, listening and speaking, both within ESL classes and in content-area instruction. Also, surveys a variety of approaches to ESL methods, discusses ways to focus on culture in language teaching to create community among second language learners and builds bridges between schools and diverse linguistic and cultural communities.
