Distinguished Masters Research Awards

Program nominations for the 2015 Distinguished Master's Research Awards are due to the Office of Graduate Studies by Monday, September 15, 2014. Recipients will be selected in two categories; 1) the UW Oshkosh Distinguished Master's Research Award, and 2) the Midwest Association of Graduate School's (MAGS) Distinguished Thesis Award.

To nominate a student for one or both of these awards, please include the following:

  1. A UW Oshkosh Distinguished Research Nomination form identifying if the nomination is for one or  both competitions.
  2. A letter of support from the thesis, clinical paper, or field project advisor.
  3. A copy of the final thesis, clinical paper, or field project abstract.
  4. A one-page resume of the thesis, clinical paper, or field project author's professional background.

Historically, the UW Oshkosh Distinguished Master's Research Award recipient's manuscript was submitted to represent UW Oshkosh at the MAGS annual master's thesis competition. Beginning in fall 2013, MAGS implemented the Council of Graduate School's process for awarding Distinguished Thesis Awards. Two of four broad categories will alternate each year. For 2015, MAGS will accept Distinguished Thesis nominations in the Social Sciences and Physical Sciences and Engineering. The categories for the 2016 MAGS competition will be Biological and Life Sciences, and the Humanities.

The 2015 UW Oshkosh Distinguished Master's Research Award competition will accept thesis, clinical paper, and field project manuscripts from all disciplines. Nominated students must have completed his or her master's degree for summer 2013, fall 2013, or spring 2014. Students can only be considered once for this award.

The 2015 MAGS Distinguished Thesis Award competition will accept thesis, clinical paper, or field project manuscripts from students who completed a master's degree in the Social Sciences and Physical Sciences and Engineering. The student must also meet all 2015 UW Oshkosh Distinguished Master's Research Award requirements, but is not required to be the recipient of the UW Oshkosh award.
