References

When completing the electronic application, be certain to identify three references (relatives are not acceptable academic/ professional references) who can assess the ability of the applicant to do graduate work. Be sure to:

  • Provide complete name and contact information.

  • Consult with the specific program in which you are seeking admission to verify reference requirements.

The Office of Graduate Studies will notify an applicant's references that they are to provide a letter in support of the applicant's admission. Letters also can be sent separately by the references directly to the Office of Graduate Studies. If an applicant submits letters directly to the Office of Graduate Studies, the letters must be in envelopes sealed by the reference(s).

NOTE: Some programs have different reference requirements. Please check the program-specific admission instructions first for specific reference requirements.

Transcripts

Applicants must have all official transcripts sent directly to the Office of Graduate Studies. Copies "issued to student" are not considered official.

NOTE: If an applicant is a current or former UW Oshkosh graduate or undergraduate student, he/she does not need to provide an official UW Oshkosh transcript.

Program-specific requirements

Since many of UW Oshkosh’s graduate programs have specific admissions requirements in addition to or different from the Office of Graduate Studies’ admissions requirements, it’s important to consult with each programs’ individual web site for these details.
