Peer Mentor Training: Extraordinary Students
The first group of Quest I Peer Mentors was trained this past Saturday. They are ready to serve first-year students in their new roles this fall.
Peer Mentor training covered a wide range of topics including the structure of the USP, the difference between a peer mentor and a tutor, campus resources, Inclusive Excellence, student involvement outside the classroom, and the use of ePortfolios to enhance student learning.
The USP Council was extremely impressed with the enthusiasm and professionalism these students brought to the training and will bring to Quest I classrooms. These freshly trained students are already busy trading ideas on our closed Peer Mentor Facebook group page.
We are now in the process of matching Peer Mentors to Quest I courses. We expect to have that task nearly completed in time for the Quest I: Peer Mentor Gathering on Friday, April 19 (4:00-5:00 p.m., Titan Underground).
Quest I instructors, watch your email to learn the name of your Peer Mentor.
