Achievement, Retention & Equity: Key Pedagogical Changes that Can Make a Real Difference in ANY College Classroom WITHOUT Lowering Standards
January 10, 2011 — 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. — Reeve Union 227A
Presented by Craig E. Nelson, Carnegie Scholar
Why do some students with the academic credentials to be admitted to UW Oshkosh struggle in our classes? Key findings from the scholarship of teaching and learning show that standard university teaching is often ineffective, even when the students are working reasonably hard. In this workshop, we will examine key pedagogical changes that make real differences in achievement and retention in almost any college or university classroom without lowering the standards for achievement.
