Professional Experience - George J. Hudak

Associate Professor, University of Wisconsin Oshkosh:
Teach Physical Geology, Physical Geology Lab, Environmental Geology Lab, Mineralogy, Mineralogy Lab, Lithology, Lithology Lab, Volcanology Seminar, Mineral Deposits, and Spring Interim Field Trip courses. Conduct research on plutonic rocks (Redgranite, Wisconsin and Purvis Pluton, NE Minnesota) and volcanic rocks (Sturgeon Lake, Ontario; Timmins, Ontario; Vermilion District, NE Minnesota; Berlin Rhyolite, Wisconsin) with numerous undergraduate students.  Present research findings at Geological Society of America Meetings, Geological Association of Canada / Mineralogical Association of Canada Meeting, Institute on Lake Superior Geology Meetings, Society of Economic Geology-sponsored volcanology and massive sulfide meeting in Tasmania, and American Geophysical Union-sponsored Chapman Conference on subaqueous explosive volcanism in New Zealand.  Currently external examiner for graduate students at the University of MinnesotaDuluth and Laurentian University ( Sudbury , Canada ).

Associate Director, Precambrian Research Center (PRC), University of Minnesota – Duluth:  Develop curriculum and teach six-week long field camp concentrating on identifying ancient geological lithologies, environments and structures, mapping techniques, mapping strategies, and map-making skills specifically for Precambrian rocks. Mapping will include well-mapped regions of northeastern Minnesota as well as essentially unmapped regions of northeastern Minnesota and the Boundary Waters of Minnesota and Ontario .  Additionally, will teach specific short courses related to physical volcanology, hydrothermal alteration, and Precambrian volcanic-associated mineral deposits. Further information about the PRC can be found at www.d.umn.edu/prc.

Consultant, Golden Chalice Resources, Inc:  Performed site assessment, detailed diamond drill core relogging, and established stratigraphic nomenclature for VMS prospect in the Abitibi Greenstone Belt in Ontario .

Consultant, Kodiak Exploration Limited:
Performed mapping petrographic analysis of altered volcanic rocks associated with volcanic-hosted massive sulfide and epithermal precious metal prospects in the Onaman area of the Wabigoon Greenstone Belt in northwestern Ontario .

Geological Consultant:
Development of exploration criteria for GIS-based mineral deposits exploration software. Included field, petrographic, and lithogeochemical investigations of the volcanic rocks, hypabyssal plutonic rocks, and hydrothermally altered rocks associated with Archean volcanic-associated massive sulfide deposits.

Post-Doctoral Research Fellow, Geology Department, University of Minnesota - Duluth :
Detailed investigations of the physical volcanology, hydrothermal alteration, and geochemistry of the Sturgeon Lake Caldera Complex, northwestern Ontario .  Petrographic and geochemical studies of hydrothermally altered Archean volcanic rocks from the Vermilion Greenstone Belt, northeastern Minnesota .

Consultant, Noranda Mining and Exploration Company, Thunder Bay , Ontario :  Performed mapping and paleoenvironmental reconstructions of altered volcanic rocks associated with volcanic-hosted massive sulfide prospects in the Sturgeon Lake region of northwestern Ontario .  Developed 2-day long geological field trip to evaluate volcanology and hydrothermal alteration associated with base-metal mineral deposits.

Consultant, Rio Algom Exploration Inc., Thunder Bay , Ontario :
Assisted in lithological and hydrothermal alteration mineral assemblage mapping associated with exploration programs for volcanic-hosted massive sulfide deposits in the Sturgeon Lake region of northwestern Ontario .

Consultant, Bay West Inc., St. Paul , Minnesota
: Supervised environmental investigations at several sites in Quebec , Canada

Business Development Manager / Hydrogeologist, Bay West Inc., St. Paul, Minnesota:  Oversaw technical marketing programs, managed and performed environmental investigations, directed and wrote local, state, and federal proposals, and performed emergency response hazardous waste site work for a small nationwide environmental consulting firm.

Geologist / Hydrogeologist, RREM Inc., Duluth , Minnesota :  Supervised and performed remedial investigations at impacted sites in Minnesota and Wisconsin .

Geologist, Abbington-Ney Associates, Freehold, New Jersey :
Performed geotechnical investigations at construction sites in central New Jersey.
