Beginning in Fall 2011, First-Year Experience at UW Oshkosh has been offered in a different format. Instead of a team-taught stand-alone class, FYE is embedded into select sections of Communication 111 and Writing-Based Inquiry Seminar 188.
The UW Oshkosh First-Year Experience program helps students make a successful transition to the University and create a solid foundation for their academic, personal, and social growth by
- Learning about campus programs and support services that promote individual success and degree completion; and
- Understanding how a liberal education will provide the foundation to their becoming active, contributing members of the many communities they will be part of.
This new format will help the UW Oshkosh community gear up for the University Studies Program, reflecting the prominent role FYE will play as the University moves forward to further ensure that our first-year students succeed.
