Dr. Patricia J. Koll
Her 31 years at the University included service as an education professor, associate dean, coordinator of continuing education and outreach in the College of Education and Human Services and Assistant Vice Chancellor for Graduate School and Research. Her commitment and exemplary performance in teaching, research and scholarship were recognized with the UW Oshkosh Distinguished Teaching Award and the John McN Rosebush Award, along with many awards from state education organizations.
Koll received a doctorate in educational administration and supervision from Marquette University. She co-authored seven books, wrote 40 journal articles, served extensively as a school district consultant, was active in several professional organizations, led formation of many campus initiatives and was a committed church and community volunteer.
The Patricia J. Koll Graduate Research Fund was established at the time of her retirement in 1999. It received support from Koll’s friends, former students and colleagues. The fund supports collaborative graduate student/graduate faculty research in the social sciences, humanities, fine arts, education and gerontological studies. Koll later established the Patricia J. Koll Scholarship, which is awarded to a woman graduate student in the College of Education and Human Services, as well as a fund to support special programs, events or courses offered through the UW Oshkosh Learning in Retirement Program.
Koll passed away in January 2003. Her estate plans included additional funds designated for the three programs she had previously established.
